My weekend was quite eventful! I had to hurriedly book a ticket to Manila and spent less than 24 hours there just to attend an awarding at the COMDDAP Expo. It was a beautiful day and the sky was particularly amazing.

Recently inspired by the latest Narnia movie. lol.

But before I get to that, let me blog about some things first.

It’s always a pleasure for me to know that other artists admire my work, what more inspire them to actually make a painting of one of my photoworks! Cyrene Quiamco is a talented artist and freelance graphic designer. To know more about her, you can check out her website [here]. She works with a lot of mediums and is currently a student at the University of Arkansas.

This is her 40×30 inch acrylic/oil on canvas work of my photowork, The Encounter.

Thank you, Cyrene! It’s really an honor and a sweet surprise to me. More power to you. šŸ™‚

I was a featured artist on the Y101FM website last week. Thanks to Kimo Cea and the Y101 Web Team! You can read the article [here].

They gave me the title of “Cebu’s Photography Sweetheart”, so cute! Haha

A few months ago my classmate, Annie Bandies, suggested me to join a photo contest in line with the COMDDAP Expo. I initially told her that I really never have any luck when it comes to these things (as I find most contests too technical for my style) but in the end, I gave it a go since all you had to do was upload an original photo and wait for the admins to approve. I asked a few kind friends to help me with the rating and eventually, I honestly forgot about it as the days passed. I even brushed it off as a probable hoax.

Here‘s the portal to the contest for those of you curious. I liked how it was an “Anything Goes” competition which is more my style. Haha!

And I must say it’s really one of the sweetest surprises to win something you never expected! Sometimes being forgetful can make you feel really good. Well, in rare cases like this anyway as it comes off as a complete ambush to me. Yay to to routinely checking your mail to surprisingly find a subject that says “Your photo won First Prize!”.

All the entries were printed and showcased on a booth at the expo. There’s Lost in Alice again.
(Sorry if it seems overused but it’s still my ultimate favorite)

With Mr. Juan Chua and Jaime Garchitorena. Holding up my check for 20,000 pesos.
The most I ever got in a single setting! /happy

Jaime interviewed me for a bit to talk about myself and the photowork.
He reminds me of a more mature version of the Prince of Caspian from the Narnia movie.

With the other organizers and two other winners.

I have more news to talk about but I’m gonna save it for the next blog entry. Also, an editorial is to be published next month! I’m excited and nervous at the same time. It’s gonna be my first ever.

Hint: The magazine is popular among pre-teen girls.

Oh, and I’m sorry if I’m blogging about features more than actual new works lately. As I’ve said, photography’s at the back seat right now until I graduate next year. I’ve yet to finish works prior to November though so there’ll be a new photostory around this month or the next! šŸ™‚

Thank you to Karla Tan for being my proud mama and taking all the photos of me that day. Thank you Taty for coming with me even though you had a big Filipino test the next day. Thank you Michael for catching up. Love you guys! Oh, and thanks Dan for driving us to SMX. šŸ™‚
