The Male Factor 2011.

The Male Factor 2011.

“Where I come from, Christian, there are women of such beauty, that they can possess a man’s mind..”
-Azeem, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

I did a small shoot for The Male Factor last week. This was honestly like a spur of the moment thing… When Marion asked me if I could shoot for his male models I immediately said yes. I thought I should grab the chance to practice shooting guys (since it’s way more challenging to shoot men than women).

I don’t know if it’s the same for most, or maybe if it’s just cause I’m a girl. There are so many poses and looks a woman can do. But men on the other hand, are limited within the boundaries of the machismo persona… Beyond that, I fear for them looking gay when they aren’t supposed to.

Yeah macho like this and all that jazz.

This was my first shoot using my new camera. One mark off my New Year’s Resolution list. I’m really thankful I was able to upgrade it this early.

I need all the practice I can get.

It’s a big leap from my old camera so there’s so much to learn. It’s overwhelming.

We shot in the early afternoon and it was SWELTERING. I seriously need a sun hat, aside from my usual white long sleeve and denim with sneaker ready-for-anything-I’m-in-photographer-mode-attire.

Look at that reflector. It’s gonna burn your eyes.

It was the first time I met the Humanizer. He, on the other hand, has got shooting male models down to the bone.

I asked him how he’d want the photos to come out and he said, “Your usual style. Romantic.”

Romantic? Sooo… Since everyone else is shooting men in badass themes (And I must say Roland Icban and Jan Gonzales are really good at it!) I guess my works will show the side of men that’s neglected more often.

His gentle romantic side.

He may look a bit snobbish, but his mystery draws you in. Admit it.

The down-to-earth guy who labors and toils for your affection.

After a while Dennis and I got separated from the rest so I ended up having more shots of him. He told me about his family and how his sister, Jacqueline Schubert, became the Mutya Ng Pilipinas-Tourism 2009. Goes to show good genes run in the family. I found it interesting how he doesn’t like seeing photos of himself, even though he is quite the model.

He was afraid of the cows at first, but I assured him they wouldn’t kick models.

I have to cut this short as I’m gonna be late for my 3D class. I’m so excited for school to be over. Work, here I come!
