Slumber Party Shoot + High School Classmates

Picture Story Series 8: Slumber Party [full FB album]
Concept / styling / modeling by Miles Semblante and Alandia Enomoto.
Lighting master was John Borga.
Lea Ann helped assist that day.
All photos and PP by me except BTS shot which is from John.

Al’s make-up was inspired from Michelle Phan’s Avatar make-up tutorial video.
Miles’ was just something I made up. lol.
Putting make-up on my models’ faces makes me feel like I’m painting on a human canvas.

The original concept was supposedly a JRock shoot (correct me if I’m wrong, Al) then it turned into this slumber-party cosplay. If you guys haven’t figured it out yet, Alandia and Miles are both really experienced cosplayers. I think they’re quite famous around the Cebu cosplay scene.

I met-up with them at Starbucks Ayala and the first thing that came into my mind when I saw them was “OMG why do I want to buy these girls some Jollibee?” (or Kiddy Meal if you’d like). They’re really so adorable in person, and you wouldn’t believe how old they are.

Green light on the upper left is from a Canon Speedlite 580 EX II with a color-casted bounce card.
John, the lighting master, made me a bounce card. Thank you so much!

We’ve struggled to find a decent place to shoot this for about a week until we had no choice but to use my plain-walled and horridly-curtained boring guest room. Initially, we wanted a pink room or something that would really match the concept but ultimately, we made the most of what we had.

The shoot went on from around 2:30PM (make-up and snacks, check) to 5:ooPM. It was really dynamic because of the introduction of strobing. Now I’m really not a technical person when it comes to my camera or flash. I know the basics but I don’t use formulas to calculate the aspect ratios of my crop-body to full-frame lenses and the like. (Though I know eventually I will/should) And what I said probably didn’t make sense. Anyway, John mainly did the adjustments because he loves strobing. Lea helped with morale (she’s always funny even though she doesn’t try) and holding the reflector.

After the shoot I had a scheduled get-together with my high school classmates at Mikko‘s house.

Thanks for the dinner, Mik! Had a great time. 🙂 Almost lost my voice then.
FIRSSTT~ *inside joke*

Whenever we meet for little reunions it always feels like home to me. We can talk about anything, anytime, anywhere! I learned how to play poker that night (somewhat). Later, we ended up playing “indian poker” and kept LOLing at each other. If you know how the game works then you’d understand. So yeah, the truth or dare bit was inevitable to be a consequence.

Oh, and Happy April Fool’s day everyone~

DeviantArt really pwned me today. I seriously thought a die-hard Twilight-fan hacked my account. -.-;
