Before I start my entry about an advanced landscape workshop I went to, please vote for Blinky de Leon for PLDT’s Watchpad Crew.

She’s the second to the left; a host of ABSCBN’s MagTV Na! Cebu.
This is from the of Pirates, Genies and Princesses shoot last year.

Last May 1 and 2 I attended a workshop called Chasing Light led by the great landscapists duo Edwin Martinez and Jay Jallorina. Here’s some of us.

Funny how we’re all photographers but we didn’t bother to use any of our SLRs but just an iPhone/point-and-shoot.

Jay Jallorina in action. Thank you for teaching me the tips on landscape!

A native girl around the area. Kids were playing kites close by.

And here are some of my rock photography landscape shots:

During sunset we shot at Cordova. It was really tough because the low tide made the sand so soft that it ate our feet as we walked far far away from the shore. I ended up with some cuts and bruises by the end of the day and a little tan. Below is a small picture explanation.

In the end, I realized I’m not wired for hardcore landscaping. I can take a picture of a view I’m captivated with but to sit there and anticipate it for hours (or even months) isn’t for me. I really admire those who have the patience, effort and passion for landscape photography. It made me appreciate those types of photos better.

mangroves.

I love how there are tiny sun stars cast by the slow waves.

Bottom line, I like shooting in controlled environments and most importantly, people. I don’t really have enough money to invest on the various filters either (wonder why I still have a Canon 350D?) XD I realized I’m also limited to my camera the way it is… But I’ll be patient because I know I’ll be able to upgrade in the future. /when I have a job 😀

Nowi was my roomate in the two hours that we slept in the hotel together. We woke up at 3am to catch the sunrise at Danao. Slept the whole way coming back because I can’t take sleeping for just a few hours. @_@; I’m sorry to say I even slept for a few minutes during the PP session. Couldn’t help it, I was headbanging my way for minutes.

Most importantly, as a whole, the workshop was great! Sir Edwin and Sir Jay were excellent in their teaching. I seriously don’t regret attending because it was worth more than I bargained for.

If you like landscape photography, you can join the next batch, Chasing Light 2.0, this June 2010. For inquiries, email me at annelorraineuy at gmail dot com.
